To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Training Manager opportunity, you will have:

  • Solid related experience and/or training; the ability to develop and deliver training programs from scratch is strongly preferred.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience in production environments; optical industry experience is a plus.
  • The ability to assess current and future needs, create goals to address them and develop plans to achieve those goals.
  • Solid computer skills, including familiarity with learning management systems and MS Office, along with the ability to learn new applications quickly.
Just as important will be the following competencies and characteristics:
  • Leadership skills and the ability to promote a strong, healthy, culture.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others across all areas of the organization.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be the primary training resource for the Classic Optical lab. Frankly, we only know what we know internally, so we'll look to you bring fresh new ideas, building on your own experience. Primary responsibilities will include designing and implementing a training program, building organization alignment, preparing the lab to take optimal advantage of training, and overall ownership of the training program.

Initially, you will focus on onboarding new production associates, setting them up for success. Another priority will be developing programs to support our customer service team. Over time, you'll create programs for all areas, including cross-training opportunities. We also have skills matrices for different positions, and you will manage these tools, ensuring they are updated and creating new development plans for employees.

More specifically, you will:
  • Work with Lab Operations Management in the development and implementation of the training program, with a focus on onboarding Lab Tech associates to ensure consistent lab operational processes. Quick question for you - click here
  • Create and monitor measurements to ensure overall effectiveness of the program.
  • Identify and train shift coordinators to implement training practices within the lab.
  • Work with lab supervisors to maintain skills matrices and employee development plans.
  • Align training program with existing Essilor training protocols and established standards.
  • Work hands-on to implement training across three shifts, and all work stations within the lab.
  • Work with the Technical Manager and General Manager to approve training the program, standards for implementation, and priorities to address.
  • Partner with lab supervisors to design training programs, address areas of highest need, and implement training practices.
  • Prepare Training Coordinators to assume ownership of department training needs Create training tools, methods and stations to perform training.
  • Maintain lab operations training documentation for new hires and existing employees.
  • Train employees directly, as necessary.
