To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Medical Claims Specialist opportunity, you will have:
  • Experience with medical billing and/or coding is required, and certification is preferred.
  • A high school education or equivalent; an associate's degree in Accounting is preferred.
  • 2-4 years related experience and/or training.
  • Accounting skills and an understanding of debits and credits.
  • Basic understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is a plus.
  • Technical aptitude, including:
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Quick question for you - click here
    • Intermediate skills in Excel are preferred, ideally including the ability to manipulate large sets of data and use VLOOKUP formulas and pivot tables.
    • Keyboarding skills, including 10-key abilities.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
Normally you will work from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, but we'll also look to you to be flexible to work overtime as needed. As an essential business, we are following appropriate protocols to ensure the health and safety of all employees. Initial training and orientation will take place in the lab location, but after that, you will work remotely. We will implement a responsible return-to-work plan once it is safe to do so.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, your primary focus will be to process accurate information for accounts receivable and to collect outstanding balances. Specific duties for this position include reviewing medical billing codes for accuracy, regular reconciliation of account balances between two systems, resolving payment issues, and various administrative duties. Quick question for you - click here

Your principal responsibilities will include:
  • Advanced AR maintenance, including resolving payment discrepancies, tracking invoice payments, reconciling balances, and analyzing variances between systems.
  • Independently identifying claim payment denials, submitting corrected claims for payment and notifying appropriate parties of any issues with an account.
  • Reviewing medical billing codes for accuracy.
  • Sending billings and receive remittances via electronic data interchange (EDI) 837 and 835 files.
Other responsibilities will include:
  • Identifying inefficiencies and providing suggestions for solutions.
  • Working well with a team and building a positive, collaborative environment.
  • Assisting with key performance indicator (KPI) tracking and engaging others to improve metrics.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Observing all company policies, rules, and safety practices.
  • Handling miscellaneous administrative duties as assigned.
